Office of Annual Giving
About Annual Giving
Each year, The University of New Mexico relies on private support from alumni, parents, friends, grateful patients, corporations, foundations, and the community to help provide needed funding for scholarships, research, programs, patient care, and facility maintenance and upgrades.
Annual gifts represent the dynamic interaction of people working together to provide UNM with a strong foundation of financial support for our students, faculty and programs. The funds raised by Annual Giving efforts each year is one of the sources of income bridging the growing gap between what tuition provides and the total operating budget.
The UNM Foundation’s Office of Annual Giving invites donors to make a gift to areas that are important to them. All contributions can make a difference. You can give to a fund that is meaningful to you by searching through the many funds available online by clicking here. Or you can give to the Annual Fund where gifts support the University’s greatest needs and priorities.
The Office of Annual Giving regularly reaches out to alumni and friends through telemarketing, email and direct mail programs.
In addition to the annual donation component of our work, the Office of Annual Giving also has important giving programs such as the
Presidential Scholarship Program and the Cherry & Silver Society that help support The University of New Mexico.

Why give to UNM every year? Because…
…UNM is where your investment can contribute to the education of our state’s and nation’s future leaders.
…Your gift to UNM can help students, faculty, research, health care providers and patients at UNM.
…UNM offers nationally ranked programs in medicine, engineering, law and the arts and we confer over 80% of the graduate and professional degrees in the state.
…UNM is a major economic force in New Mexico and is one of the state’s largest employers.
…State assistance doesn’t cover all the budgetary needs of UNM; and as state assistance continues to decrease, the need for private support is greater than ever before. Your gift and every gift received – no matter the size – collectively make a difference.
Phonathon Program
The UNM Foundation’s Phonathon Program reaches out to alumni and friends during the academic year. The program typically runs from September through May. Calls are made during the early evening and display the phone number 505-313-7695.
On behalf of UNM, designated representatives contact alumni and friends to thank them for their generosity and ask for their continued support for UNM’s schools, colleges and programs. During this conversation, demographic information is updated so we can keep our alumni and friends up-to-date with UNM news and events.
