Donor Events
New Horizons Society Luncheon
The purpose of this event is to steward current members of the New Horizons Society and prospects by sharing stories of the impact of planned gifts on UNM programs, students, research, and patients.
The New Horizons Society was started in 1999-2000 to honor and steward those donors who had the foresight to include UNM in their wills or other estate plans. Membership requires that donors indicate that they have made a planned gift of any size, and can be any of the following: a bequest in a will or trust, a charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust, or a beneficiary designation on a retirement plan or life insurance policy.
Presidential Scholarship Program Annual Celebration
The purpose of this event is to celebrate the success of the Presidential Scholarship Program, its students, and donors. Presidential Scholars are NM high school graduates who have demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership and community service. Currently, there are 469 Presidential Scholars at UNM.
The program began in 1976 with a kick-off dinner with the state’s business leaders and it has grown into one of the premier scholarship programs at UNM. This initial event raised $60,000 in just 30 days to start the program.
