Kristen Ostrem-Niemcewicz Midwifery Professional Development Fund

The fund supports student membership dues to the American College of Nurse Midwives. It can support multiple students if membership dues are paid in full.

Kristen became aware of the value of primary care nursing, especially in rural communities, while she was working on her own nurse-midwifery education at UNM. Her career as a midwife took her back to California where she worked in a rural practice. In 2003 she felt the pull back to New Mexico. In 2013 Kristen was appointed Nurse-Midwifery concentration coordinator and in 2016 was appointed Director of Master of Science in Nursing Programs. Kristen’s endowment supports her passion for education of future nurse-midwives to serve their communities.
