A Community Music School Opening Doors to a Lifetime of Music

Housed in the College of Fine Arts’ Department of Music since 1993, the UNM Music Prep School offers community music education opportunities for babies through adults. The program includes a variety of early childhood parent-child classes, group piano, guitar, and world percussion classes for kids and adults, the UNM Children’s Chorus for singers in kindergarten through high school, and a summer music camp for elementary through middle school students. The Music Prep School also collaborates with Albuquerque Public Schools’ Fine Arts Department to provide private lessons in middle and high school music programs.
