Virginia Curran Shipman Doctoral Fellowship

Professor Virginia Shipman dedicated her time, treasure and talent to advancing the understanding of children and families. Characteristic of her giving nature, she generously funded this endowment for academically outstanding doctoral students in the College of Education’s Family Studies Program. To facilitate the diversity of perspectives in understanding children and families that is critical to the Program’s mission, the fellowship gives preference to students who are graduates of out-of-state or foreign institutions or who are recent or non-New Mexico residents. Thoughtful gifts given in Professor Shipman’s memory will continue her legacy of research and scholarship to improve the well being of children and families.
