Amy Miller

Amy Miller, president of AMM Consulting, is a highly motivated, high energy, well-rounded senior level public affairs professional that has a reputation for developing and implementing strategies that help build and enhance relationships and communicate key messages. With more than 20 years of experience in the business and nonprofit world in management level positions, Amy provides her expertise to organizations on strategic planning and project management, stakeholder engagement and government relations, communications and issues management, and outreach strategies and training. Amy has significant expertise in the energy and environmental areas.
Amy previously served as the External Affairs Director for The Nature Conservancy’s New Mexico Chapter where she worked on the development and implementation of strategies for energy, climate change, and urban programs to achieve the Conservancy’s goals through interaction with elected officials, agencies and the corporate sector. Prior to that, Amy worked at PNM for 14 years, most recently serving as the Director of Community and Local Government Engagement, where she worked on regulatory and environmental policy issues as well as on community engagement strategies and programs.  Prior to her time at PNM, she served as the Director of Public Relations for Rick Johnson & Company and the Communications Manager for Plains Electric Generation and Transmission Cooperative.
Amy has participated in leadership development programs and held leadership positions in various organizations in New Mexico. She has graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of New Mexico, is a graduate of Leadership New Mexico, Leadership Albuquerque the University of Idaho Utility Executive Course and the University of Minnesota at Duluth Basic Economic Development Course. She currently serves as the president-elect of the UNM Alumni Association board and as a member of the Albuquerque Bernalillo Utility Authority Technical Customer Advisory Committee.  She previously served as the chairperson for the City of Albuquerque Energy Council and the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Authority Technical Customer Advisory Committee and as the president of the Daybreakers Toastmasters Club. She also served on a legislative Clean Energy Task Force, which made clean energy policy recommendations to the New Mexico legislature.  In the past, she served on boards for The Nature Conservancy, NAIOP, the UNM School of Public Administration and Camp Fire USA.
Amy won a regional Toastmasters Division contest where she spoke on the qualities of good leadership and the challenges of making tough decisions. She has extensive public speaking experience at various organizations including the Credit Union Association of New Mexico, the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, the Western Energy Institute and Senator Heinrich’s Clean Energy Summit.
Amy lives in Albuquerque with her husband Cliff, who is also a UNM graduate, and well as her two children who have also attended UNM.
