The Joel M. Jones Lecture Series in American Studies

This endowed fund is named in honor of Dr. Joel M. Jones, former Chair of the American Studies Department whose career as a prolific and charismatic scholar, teacher, mentor and administrator has left a lasting legacy at UNM. Inspired by Joel Jones’ talent for connecting teaching, research, and contemporary social justice issues–the personal and the political–the Lecture Series will be an annual visiting lecture and participant discussion bringing alumni and friends of the department back to campus each year.
