Alvin R. and Caroline G. Grove Endowed Scholarship in Field Biology

Established in 1997 in memory of Alvin R. and Caroline G. Grove, this fund supports summer, research and doctoral scholarships for need-based graduate students showing academic progress in a graduate degree in Biology. This fund also provides graduate students with resources to initiate or continue research projects, and/or to attend conferences to present their research.

Alyce and Terry Richardson Biology Scholarship Fund

The Alyce and Terry Richardson Biology Scholarship Fund was established in 2020. This fund is intended to support underrepresented University of New Mexico students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Biology, preferably Juniors and Seniors working or proposing to work in a Cellular and Molecular research laboratory.

Biology Department Chair’s Fund

At the discretion of the Chair, this fund provides program and research support, and support for teaching activities and other specials needs in the Department of Biology, as they arise.

Biology Genomic Resources Division Fund

The Museum of Southwestern Biology Genomic Resources Division Fund provides for unique opportunities under the discretion of the Curator to obtain and curate new specimens upgrade facilities and support students to meet our strategic goals.

Cocalina Memorial Scholarship in Biology

This scholarship was established by UNM alumni Paul and Angela Costanzo, both in memory of their infant daughter Catalina Gabrielle Costanzo (Cocalina) and for Angela’s passion for Biology. This fund provides scholarship support for female undergraduate students majoring in Biology.

Crawford Rio Grande Graduate Scholarship in Biology

Establish by Professor Emeritus Clifford S. Crawford and UNM alumna Claudia Gayheart Crawford, Esquire, this award is given to deserving graduate students in the Department of Biology conducting research on or related to the Rio Grande Bosque.

David Robert Pieyns Endowed Graduate Award in Optical Science

The David Robert Pieyns Endowed Graduate Award in Optical Science was established in memory of David R. Pieyns a UNM alumnus who worked for many years in the field of Optical Engineering. The goal of this fund is to provide fellowships in the Physics and Astronomy department for the study of Optics.

Friends of the UNM Herbarium Fund

This endowed fund is used to support the operations of the UNM Herbarium at the Museum of Southwestern Biology for purposes including, but limited, to augmenting herbarium research, education and maintenance, at the discretion of the Herbarium Curator.

Established in memory of Joseph Alvin Gaudin, Jr., this scholarship supports a graduate or undergraduate Biology major with demonstrated financial need, proven academic and research record, with a preference for students majoring in mammalogy and interested in studying the cat family.

Lynn A. Hertel Graduate Research Award
